It's time to celebrate - I have finally found a white wine that I can drink all summer without getting sick of it! I often find white wine too dry or too sweet, depending on the varietal. We stopped by Cannon River Winery a few weekends ago with our wine club ladies and their St. Pepin might be my new favorite white wine under $20. I often rush through the white wines to get to the red wines loaded with (hopefully) black cherry and berry flavors and aromas.
This white wine is similar to a Sauvignon Blanc and offers the same common characteristics of the varietal that we love, without being too dry. The crisp, citrus flavors provide pleasant aromas and a deep flavor profile. Grapefruit and freshly cut grass aromas dominate this wine, which may seem like an interest pairing but pineapple flavor provides a touch of sweetness in order to balance out this wine. Cannon River Winery's St. Pepin is a great addition to your summer barbecue; pair with grilled chicken.
