This spicy salmon dip is a quick and easy recipe to pair with your sparkling wine tasting or next party. Sparkling wine can calm the pallet after spicy food and pairs well with salty foods. We served this recipe for our sparkling wine tasting last weekend and they are the perfect finger food to serve as an appetizer.
Spicy Salmon Bites
- 1 c mayo
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbs chives, washed and chopped finely
- 4 oz smoked flaked salmon, chopped
- 2 english cucumbers
- fresh dill
Combine all ingredients for dip in a bowl and mix well with a spoon: mayo, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, chives, and smoked salmon.
Wash cucumbers and use a vegetable peeler to remove 1/2 inch sections from the cucumber skin for a fancy look.
Cut the cucumber into 1/2-3/4 inch slices and discard ends.
Scoop out 1/2 tsp from english cucumber bites and then fill each slice with dip. Top each finished cucumber bite with a sprig of fresh dill.
Substitutions and Tips
- Serve in a bowl with crackers or cucumber slices instead.
