This cherry glazed ham recipe was by far the best pairing we had during our Pinot Noir tasting of February. The sweetness of the cherry and brown sugar was balanced by the saltiness of the ham making it a great pairing. This recipe would be great for Easter or Thanksgiving as well. Enjoy!
Cherry Glazed Ham
- 8 oz sweet dark pitted cherries (can use frozen; thaw before use)
- 1 lb pre-sliced cooked ham (for easy to eat bites slice into small triangles)
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 3/4 cup of Pinot Noir
Mix the brown sugar, Pinot Noir, and thawed sweet dark cherries in a medium sauce pan. Heat the mixture on medium to high heat until mixture starts to simmer rapidly and sugar dissolves. Add the pre-sliced ham pieces to the cherry sauce. Cover and turn down to low and simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes until mixture thickens slightly and ham starts to candy or glaze. Stir occasionally.
